Technopolis Matchmaking – Embarking on Russian Soil and Getting Good Reviews

Technopolis, best known for its real-estate operations, is more and more shifting its focus on services and exporting them to the markets outside of Finland. On Sept 15th, the first ever Matchmaking event was held in St. Petersburg at the newly built Technopolis facilities in Pulkovo. The meeting attracted some 15 digital media companies, public sector players from Finland such as VTT and Aalto Center for Entrepreneurship and Technopolis representatives.

The idea of Technopolis Matchmaking events is to facilitate as effective matchmaking environment as possible. To accomplish this, participating companies are encouraged to set up meetings with interesting prospects prior to the event, where there will be an area set-up for 15 minute meetings in the rapid fire fashion. The concept is familiar for all of those who know the speed-dating concept.

The concept of pre-booked meetings has been around in Finland for some years now, but in Russia it is a novel approach. The feedback from attendees was overwhelmingly positive and the indication was that the St. Petersburg market yearns for such events to be organized in the future.
