Genecodebook Raises Capital for Gene Testing Service Geenitesti.fi from Fortel Management

Oulun Seudun Hyvinvointirahasto, an investment fund managed by Fortel Management Ltd, has invested in Genecodebook Ltd’s do-it-yourself gene testing service Geenitesti.fi, Fortel Management reported on September 30^th.

In the recent years, new technology and methods have reduced the costs of gene testing drastically making personal gene tests available to every self-caring consumer interested in her possible familiar diseases or other genetic features.  Genecodebook brings the tests available for ordinary people by producing and marketing personal gene tests directly to consumers. The company’s main service, Geenitesti.fi, provides gene tests where users can test and receive information about their personal risks and exposure to various diseases and other genetic features. The product range differs from disease tests, such as macular degeneration, thrombosis and lactose intolerance, to more characteristic tests analyzing sense of taste or suitability of statin medicines.

Genecodebook has also received attention and recognition from Finnish entrepreneurial society. The company was recently awarded in a national innovation competition for the best innovative business idea in Oulu region. The contest is a national, well recognized innovation competition encouraging fresh ideas and growth companies.
