Third TalentTalks® Event Gathers a Crowd in Otaniemi

Last Thursday, the 7th of June, 2012, Technopolis and Otaniemi Marketing hosted the third TalentTalks® event in Innopoli 2 in Otaniemi. The event gathered a generous crowd of interesting job seekers and recruiting companies. The welcoming greetings from Ludmila Niemi, of Technopolis Plc, and Melissa Arni-Harden, from Otaniemi Marketing, were followed by Teemu Arina, CEO of Dicole Ltd, who gave his take on the role of social media in recruiting and job seeking in today’s labour market. His keynote presentation, Managing Talent in Social Media, gave an astounding overview of how online recruiting has evolved and were it is going in the near future. After the networking break the event proceeded with the pitches from both individuals and companies. Seven individuals and seven companies delivered their cases in time slots of 2- and 4-minutes. The seven companies pitching their job openings were KPMG, Kiosked, Spinno, Fluido, Blancco, and Arkkeo, with Mike Bradshaw filling in for the absent Heaven Solutions with the Helsinki StartupDigest newsletter on coming hi-tech startup events. From 15.45 onwards pre-booked 1:1 meetings took place, with time slots being reserved all the way until 17.30. As the bell rang, job seeking professionals changed from one company table to another, in a speed dating fashion. Alongside this structured matchmaking a lot of informal networking took place as the attendees were served to a delicious offering of salads and other snacks accompanied by red and white wine, as well as many non-alcoholic refreshment options.
