MoneyTalks® Resumes in Espoo After Summer Break

The 52nd MoneyTalks® event held last week in Espoo gathered a rejuvenated crowd ready to get back to business for the coming fall. The event held on the 30th of August, 2012, assembled over 50 enthusiastic entrepreneurs, company representatives and financiers into attendance with agendas ranging from fund raising and financing to sheer networking.

The event kicked-off at 9 in the morning, after registrations and morning coffees were concluded, with Jukka Jokinen, Director of Funding and Innovation at Technopolis Plc, giving a few opening words on the first halves fundraising activity in Finland and the post-recession trends in venture capital. From there, the company presentations ensued with four 7-minute and five 2-minute pitches allotted into three broad solution categories of Health, Business and Life.

First off the bat was health with TinnOff Inc, presented by Antti Koivula, followed by Matti Kari for Pieni Piiri. Business solutions followed with 7-minute company pitches by Charles Sederholm of Ubisecure Solutions and Kristoffer Lawson of Holvi Payment Services. These presentations were followed by five 2-minute power pitches from Ziliot, Reflect Career Partners, Valkio, and Life category solutions of Musopia and Rewindy. After the pitches, Pekka Vartianen, Venture Partner at Sunstone Capital, gave his take on what they at Sunstone Capital look for in prospective companies. This speech provided a different angle compared to the company pitches, as the presenation provided a venture financiers perspective towards aspiring start-ups. This presentation concluded the common part of the event, and was immediately after followed by a brunch and networking, which then made way for the Marketplace part of the event with pre-booked one-to-one meetings commencing from 11.00 onwards until the end of the event.
